Dishcloths, dishcloths, dishcloths.. and more dishcloths! :)

One day I got bored and as I stared aimlessly into my yarn stash, I saw that I had many odd balls of cotton yarn that were not being used!   So I turned them into a franken-ball of yarn!  Ultimately, it lead to my marathon dishcloth knitting extravaganza.

And now I have a tower of dishcloths, made of scrap yarn and I am not ashamed of myself...... *sigh*....  Then I went to the new Hobby Lobby that opened up on my side of town.   Did I mention that they had nice 40-50% sales!  So what logic did I do?  I bought more yarn of course!  I wanted to try out their brand of cotton yarn.  The only thing that pisses me off about this yarn is the difference in yardage between verigated yarn and non-verigated.  You get less yarn if you buy verigated.  BOOOOOOOOO!

Unlike Michael's (SHADE SHADE SHADE) this sale extended to the coloring books, so I picked up this book for roughly $7!  :)

Then I began knitting another dishcloth with the Hobby Lobby cotton!  It feels less dry then Lilly's Sugar and Cream.

Here is my stitch porn.... hahahahaha.

Well, I have nothing else to say.  Enjoy.

Got these for V-Day 2018, from my husband!

And this is from the kid!  I can't believe he's a third grader now! :(

Homemade Lemonade

Mixed Berry Lemonade - Red, black, blue, and strawberries.
1C. White Sugar (or diet if you like)
1 1/2C. lemon juice (I just get the pre-squeezed stuff)
8-10oz. of frozen fruit (Strawberry, Mixed Berry, Cherries, etc.)
8c. Water

1. Mix 2c. of water with 1c. white sugar in a microwave safe dish and microwave for one minute.  Or if your fancy, melt the sugar and water mixture on the stove top and let cool completely.

2.  While the sugar mixture (some fancy chefs call it "simple syrup," but I am not simple) cools, put another 2c. of water in a blender along with your frozen fruit and blend until it is a pulp (if your feeling fancy, strain that so the seeds are out, I personally don't care).

3.  Pour the fruit puree into the pitcher you will store your lemonade in.  Combine that with the sugar, remaining 6c. of water, and lemon juice.

4. STIR THAT LEMONADE!!!  Then you taste it, and if you don't like it, add more of whatever you like, because it's your lemonade not mine.  :)

Mr. Peaches (betta fish) and my 2nd grader...

This is my new pet betta fish, a dumbo halfmoon betta!  I got him about a week ago as an early birthday present (we had a good coupon and PetsMart had a decent sale).   I raised at least two before this, but that was almost 11 years ago.

I've forgotten how weird they can be!  LOL.  Spent awhile figuring out the tank set up and getting his water right.  I also had to train him on how to eat pellets at the surface as opposed to on the bottom of his cup.   That took awhile and was scary because he wasn't eating and it was making me concerned.

I also thought he might be hiding in the corner of his tank because he keeps seeing himself in the reflection of his tank.  So I put one of Noah's drawings on the back.  He flared at that and everything else since then.  He goes in his cave which took him about 5 days to find!  LOL.

Also, Noah is starting 2nd grade this year and it's amazing to see him grow!  He had a rough day today, came home with a knot on his forehead because of an accident while on the play ground.   He bumped his head on the fence.

That mischievous look!  Hahahaha...

I love this guy.. he's three now.

Found this old photograph of my three year old son and as cute as it is, all I could sit here and think is "Man, look how clean my living room used to be."   I am assuming because of the jumper in the background he was not at the walking stage of life.

Now my carpet is covered in bits of paper and miscellaneous Hotwheel Cars, blocks, and stuffed animals.  You know what? I don't even care, because this guy makes me happy, he's such a wonderful kid!

I'll get off my trip to sentimentality!

Pregnancy Rant - NO I am NOT Pregnant

Oh my Lord, I've seen the word "preggers" and "preggo" to many times today, it's become very annoying.  I guess I feel as if pregnancy is being trivialized into something that is "cute".  Oh my gosh there isn't anything cute about it.  It is the most beautiful thing a woman can do!

Quit trivializing this, please!

Annoyed with Etsy Sellers

I was asked to crochet two newborn cocoons for a friend of mine that is a photographer. So I went on Etsy.com and let her pick out what design she liked. She picked a really simple pattern and when I got to studying it, it’s just made with bulky yarn and a Q hook. Ok, but the whole thing is made of SC done in rounds. I can do that without needing to buy a pattern.

Plus I found a free one that is done with bulky yarn and SC in the round. So I got to reading this ladies listing and she said plainly “Do not sell items made from my patterns unless you buy a cottage license.” This license is a $50 fee that would allow you to sell items made with her patterns.

I can understand not selling her patterns, but I find it utterly ridiculous when there are free patterns of the same thing written by two different authors and both are made of SC in the round. ANYONE could make that up over and over again.

Why charge such a stiff fee??? Being a designer I can see how crazy this is, but someone who doesn’t know how to design stuff, would probably find this crazy too. They would probably shop somewhere else for a similar pattern.

Yes, I intend on making those newborn cocoons, and I will sell them, and NO I am not purchasing a pattern that anyone could do in their head.
Honestly, it’s kind of ridiculous what people want to charge for.

Crochet Needles and Knitting Hooks

You know what has "gotten my goat" lately?  People who refer to crochet hooks as "crochet needles" without giving it a second thought.   These people who have been around me for Lord knows how long and have seen me doing it all the time, still have the nerve to use "needle" with crochet.  Sigh.

Well, got that off my chest.  See you all later.

Parents

I hope I am never the kind of mom who likes to stalk their child over a cellphone, constantly calling, until the child can not take it anymore.

I turned the cellphone off and I will not turn it on for a long time if need be. I am getting pissed off and wish that my parents would just grow up.

Oh I love this blog, I have told nobody about it, except those in my online groups.

I just want to snuggle my baby!
